National Hardware Show Recap

On behalf of both U.S. Futaba and Rothley teams, we would like to thank you for visiting our booth at the National Hardware Show!

We thoroughly enjoyed our conversations with everyone and hope everybody had a wonderful time exploring the rest of the show. Although it was the first National Hardware Show for both companies, everything went flawlessly.

The trade show was filled with manufacturers and resellers showcasing their latest home improvement products. While the focus of the event was not only on furniture hardware, it provided a valuable opportunity to network with a diverse range of companies and individuals within that industry. We were thrilled to connect with so many interesting people and learn more about the latest innovations in the field.

If there is anything you would like to know regarding the show, please do not hesitate to reach out to me at elizaveta@usfutaba.com.

Industry News

What’s Next: Baltimore Bridge Crash?

On Tuesday, March 26th, the East Coast was hit by another tragedy, particularly affecting the residents of Baltimore, Maryland. A cargo vessel called Dali, which was 985 feet long, collided with the support of the Francis Scott Key Bridge, causing it to collapse. Dali had just left the port of Baltimore when the power on the vessel went out. The ship was floating for approximately one minute with no control over it. This time was enough to make the tragedy happen.

Unfortunately, logistics cannot be left unaffected after such a negative event. The port of Baltimore is a leading port for importing and exporting cars, trucks, farming vehicles, and construction machinery. These goods are usually moved on special vessels rather than in containers. Therefore, the port of Baltimore is well-equipped to handle these types of shipments.

While the collision may not significantly affect global trade, the East Coast ports will face a notable increase in cargo volume. Now, vessel traffic is being redirected to the nearest ports, such as Norfolk, Philadelphia, and New York. Although these ports are capable of working with that kind of shipment, they are not at the same level as Baltimore port.

The interruption in the workflow combined with the increased volume can result in congestion. Consequently, it will lead to delays in shipping and handling, which can further bring prices up.

U.S. Futaba shipping remains unaffected by this situation, so you may expect your orders to arrive as scheduled.
